Primary Club Six-A-Side for the Brian Johnston Trophy

A new trophy in memory of 'Johnners'

Entrants to the Primary Club Six-A-Side Tournament, an annual cricket tournament that raises money for the Primary Club, will from this year be competing for the Brian Johnston Trophy.

This year's competition will take place on Friday 18th August 2006 at Shenley, Hertfordshire.

The Club was presented at last year's Jubilee Dinner, by Pauline Johnston, Brian's widow, with a new trophy in the form of a silver-plated wicket-keeping glove mounted on a wooden "chocolate cake", which will be presented to the winners by Mrs Johnston. Each of the twelve competing teams will be joined by a guest professional cricketer.

"It promises to be a wonderful day," said Chris Larlham, Hon Secretary of the Club. "We have the use of both grounds at Shenley, enabling us to expand the competition to twelve teams. The teams will have a sit down lunch in a marquee and there will be a 'player of the day' and, of course, a 'champagne moment'. We are hoping to raise a lot of money for the Club."

There will be one team representing The Primary Club. If you would like to be considered for that team or to enter a team of your own, contact the Hon Secretary. If you would just like to come along and watch, directions to The Shenley Cricket centre may be found at www.shenleycricketcentre.co.uk/contact.html
