The competition will be in its 35th yearThe Primary Club has been appointed the official charity for the npower Village Cup organised by The Wisden Cricketer. The charity hopes to benefit by recruiting some new members from the ranks of the 500 village teams which enter the annual competition, recognised as the UK’s leading village cricket tournament. At the final due to take place at Lord's on 9th September, a special award for ‘Primary of the Tournament’ will be presented. "We’re delighted to have been selected as the official charity for this, the most prestigious village cricket competition in the country," said Derek Underwood, Primary Club Patron. "The Wisden Cricketer has been a strong supporter of The Primary Club for many years and this is recognition of the strong relationship we’ve developed over the years. It’s great news for the visually- impaired children with whom we work as it will allow us to provide more support and resources to help improve the quality of their lives." | |
