Primary Club Patron to be next President of the MCC

Mike Brearley OBE names his successor at yesterday's AGM

Derek Underwood, Patron of the Primary Club and recent President of Kent CCC, was yesterday nominated by Mike Brearley, current MCC President and a former England captain under whom Derek played a number of Tests, to succeed him as MCC President in October 2008, .

"The Primary Club is delighted to learn of Derek Underwood's nomination," said Chris Larlham, Honorary Secretary. "After a distinguished cricketing career with Kent & England, he was an outstanding President of Kent CCC and all cricketers (even those rendered eligible for membership of the Primary Club by Derek in his bowling days) will be delighted at this further honour."

Members of The Primary Club and their guests will have the chance to congratulate Derek in person if they buy a ticket to the dinner on 16th July.
